Dune Coffee Roasters Anacapa Review

Dune Coffee Roasters has two locations in Santa Barbara and one in nearby Goleta.

Locations

The original Dune Coffee Roasters location, which opened in 2009 is in downtown Santa Barbara on 1101 State Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101.

The second downtown Santa Barbara location is a few minutes walk from the first at 528 Anacapa Street Santa Barbara, CA 93101.

The Dune Coffee Roasters Goleta location is about 12 miles away from the other locations at 250 1-A Storke Road Goleta, CA 93117 and is minutes away from University of California, Santa Barbara.

Impressions

My fiancé and I visited the Anacapa Street location in Santa Barbara on the recommendation of a co-worker who got me even more into coffee than I already was.

Dune will always be near to my heart because it became my daily go to coffee spot in Santa Barbara on an anniversary trip during which I got engaged.

Given that we visited Dune each day we were in Santa Barbara, I think it’s pretty safe to say that they did not disappoint.

As I recall, I had an espresso shot and later a cappuccino as I typically gravitate toward the first few times I try a new place.

My recollection is a bit fuzzy on what beans they used on those days, but I believe it may have been a Guatemala because I recall it being a pretty well balanced, well extracted cup.

The cups and saucers were pretty nice as cups and saucers go.

I had one of the better ham and cheese croissants there than I’ve had in a long time. Along with a very tasty iced espresso, my fiancé enjoyed the avocado toast (typical SoCal baby) on one day, and a morning bun on another.

The ambience there was pretty good.

Between the clientele and the baristas, It almost felt like a little slice of West LA in the heart of Downtown Santa Barbara, which can be taken as an insult or a compliment depending on who you talk to, but I felt like it was a good thing.

The space was bright, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, fun branding, and some cool merchandise for sale on the side.

Another bonus of the Anacapa location is that the roasting facility appears to be on the side of the building there.

Overall, we really enjoyed Dune and hope to visit there as soon as we get back to Santa Barbara.
