About Keep Roasting
Keep Roasting started the way most coffee obsessions do — one great shot that changed everything.
How it started
Keep Roasting began in 2021 as a personal diary. We'd spent years exploring LA's specialty coffee scene — shops like Cognoscenti, Nossa, Verve, and Andante in Downtown Los Angeles — and wanted a place to remember the coffees, roasters, and shops we loved.
The real turning point was the pandemic. When our favorite shops closed their doors, we bought our first home espresso machine and started pulling shots at home. After months of dialing in new beans, tracking tasting notes, and discovering roasters through their online shops, we had more to say than a notebook could hold.
What we cover
We write about coffee the way we drink it — with curiosity and without pretension. Our content spans four sections:
- Articles — brewing guides, gear reviews, and everything we've learned pulling shots and dialing in recipes at home.
- Roasters — a directory of specialty roasters worth knowing, browsable by region, from local favorites to online-only operations.
- Rebrew — personal essays, café stories, and the culture around coffee.
- Resources — calculators and tools for better brewing.
How we work
We buy our own coffee, and gear recommendations come from equipment we actually use at home — not samples or press kits. Our roaster section works differently: it's a directory we research and maintain so you can find who's roasting what and where, rather than a review column telling you how a particular bag tasted. When a post contains affiliate links, we say so — see our affiliate disclosure for details.
Some of our content is written with the help of AI tools. The research, opinions, and recommendations are ours — the drafting process sometimes isn't. We think that's worth being upfront about.
